Xth blog for FMP animation (Now we starting)

Third Post of the week, Now starting the production side of the animation from now on.
So here is the continuation of the blog from last time.

19/3/11

Today started off with the set up of my flash layout. I've set it up as 1280 px x 720 px to make it as a HD layout to my animation. This is my set up for my animation throughout.

I have done some scenery scenes. Such as house scenes and out-side scenes as Movie clip symbols for both scenes.

Then in the main time timeline, I place the movie clip symbols in the right order were to place in the timeline, I've checked storyboards/animatic I've done in my pre-production work for this. Then with the zooming in outdoor scene and living room scene where you meet the characters for the first time. I've used a motion tween in the timeline to create the camera movement early on. Then save it.

20/3/11

Today I done some Donny sketches in Flash, also using the storyboards sketches as reference. I felt the Donny needs more time to animate for the time being, i'm not satisfied what Donny is looking like yet.

Also, I've done some more sketches of Pete in Flash. Compare to Donny, I feel more confident to take Pete into flash to animate with.

21/3/11

While reviewing my sketches yesterday the drawings remind me about two different animations, that which remind me of my own animation style. First animation is Mr Bean the Animated Series. What connects to my animation is the styling of the characters. Think and Thin style of the characters work, and it suits the Mr Bean character well.

The second animation which is similar to my style would be 'The Ricky Gervais Show'. The show is possibly the closest to my own style. What I did like about the animation is the style of the characters. What I think the animation works well is the sound and story that really add death to the animation. So it doesn't need the animation quality (Such as another cartoon program South Park) because the narrative is so funny, the animation can be a bit edgy.

22/3/11

Today I've added tittles to the animation. Also I've exported the flash file as a QuickTime file to get feedback from my peers. Early feedback so far I need to change the colour font. Because the font could interfere with the background. But so far everything fine for now.

End of Blog for now, New blog soon. Bye.

IXth blog for FMP animation

Here is my second post of the week. Hasn't been long wait for the next post. So here is the continuation of the blog from last time.

11/3/11

Done some more sketches of Pete today, what I noticed for the past few weeks now Pete is looking like what I like to take into animation with. But, with theses sketches I been focusing on how Pete will be moving his arms.

14/3/11

Today I started some flash drawings of Pete and Richard Stan, I used my storyboards sketches as for references. As I said I felt that Pete is what I fell clear what Pete will look like and go into the my animation.

15/3/11

Today, I did my recordings for my animation. I did this by recording this in a basic recording studio inside are department.

I used a voice editing programme to record the voices on a program called Audacity. Very Simple program to use in my opinion, press the record button when the actors are ready to record their voices. Press the record button again to finish the recordings.
Then save all the recording at each line number in the script such "RS line 2" for a Richard Stan line 2 in the script, so the lines are in order when importing into GarageBand and save each file as a Wav file.

Another program I've used as-well is Adobe SouthBooth, this was to delete some of the dead sound that wasn't needed in the animation. So they needed to be deleted by highlighting the area, then right click the sidebar for Instant Silent, then save as a new Wav file. While I was in SouthBooth I've checked all my audio recordings, if they are spot on with sound, if needed to recorded them again. What I've heard and seen the audio sounds find to edit the score into GarageBand for tomorrow.

17/3/11

Gone into GarageBand today, to place all my audio files for my animation to place onto the timeline in the right order of the script. I have also added ambient sounds into timeline as-well to add depth to the animation. After I complete the score, I Save the score then exported by share - send song to iTunes.

Then finding the Wav file , I send it to import into iMovie to put onto the animatic to check it if its works well with the animatic as-well then export the movie onto YouTube.

18/3/11

Today I uploaded the animatic onto YouTube to get some feedback.

Now I can began to start on my FMP Animation.

End of Blog for now, New blog soon. Bye.

8th Animation blog/Journal for FMP Animation

Sorry about the delay, I've been focusing of current and different projects, so here is continuation of the blog from last time.

24/2/11

Today I have looked at a few animations today for some research.

First animation I looked was 'Killing time at home' (2003) Directed by Neil Coslett
[1]. The animation is about an Isolated man who lives from his home, doesn't interact the outside world, only thing he interact the outside world is to buy little creatures the way to have the creatures as his friends is to, make his friends is to grow them.

What I did like about the animation was the styling, I enjoyed the boldness of the characters and props. I have also enjoyed the design of the human character of having his face, such as eyes and mouth lower than usually a human being would have. Another thing I like was the score of the animation, I felt it worked well with the atmosphere in the animation. What I didn't like about the animation was the end of the story, I felt the creature was ejected from the human being.

Another animation I've looked at was Puss in Boots (1989)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sx9pun305Q. Note I can only can show the link because the embedding disabled by the viewer. What I did like about the animation was the characters I felt the human was dumb similar to Donny. While Puss in Boots was Smart and very human similar to Pete characteristics.

1/3/11

Re-showed last week animatic to my class today, because Will was in, and some of my peers was not in the week before, mention same criticism from last week. But what I found different from this week is that I need to re-tune the script again, also deleting the scene were my female character Channelle is in, but sill talking about her in the animation, as in future animatic will show later in my post.

4/3/11

Today I altered the script, and also updated the storyboards were I need to respond to from the 1st March feedback.

5/3/11

Today I asked on my Facebook group (note no screen shots, or the group is called due to privatise reasons for myself and for the group itself). Ask for any actors who can do the voices for my animation got some replays.

7/3/11

I've gone back into iMovie to re-edit the animatic to export.

Then afterwards I've uploaded the new animatic onto Youtube.

8/3/11

Gone into Uni today, got some feedback on Facebook and discussing with the actors, who want to the voices, and discussed which characters who they are going to record, which actor will suit the character will work for my animation. Speaking about recording I will be recording next week 15/3/11.

End of blog for now, new blog soon. Bye.
